Created in Bill Hudson's Guild School class, this was Tori's first
attempt at making anything
with metal (and using a lathe, and wicker work and...)
Fortunately, Mr. Hudson was a very patient teacher!
The baby carriage was patterned after the Bauer and Karuse Cabriolet,
with wood body
and wicker seat. A similar carriage was shown in the movie "Gone
With the Wind".
As the carriage is pushed, the horse rocks forward and backward.
The only thing that wasn't created in class was the horse itself, which
was an unfinished
resin casting made by Mr. Hudson. The rest was entirely scratch
built, including the
wire-spoked wheels, rocking cam and mechanism, frame, seat, handlebar,
etc., etc.
